& then always shows the thumbnail pictures onf the full color covers when I look at the directory. The Windows 8 box can scan thru them, builds thumbnails. Using Windows Explorer in View Icons mode. These are also seen as a Network share in the Win 8 圆4 system.

I have many PDF ebooks on the Win2012 disk. Which is running on Win 2012 Datacenter v6.2 (build 9200).
FOXIT READER 7.3 PROBLEMS 64 BIT
I run Windows 8 64 bit v6.2 build 9200 in a VIrtual Machine. I have had some success with what you are asking. They won't be in the market for a 64 bit system anytime soon, and until the economy improves greatly in America, that aint likely to change, but this is a support forum and not a political one, so I'll just say that old computers aren't going away anytime soon, so I doubt old software is either. These are people who may have "used PC's" (or may not have one at all) at home and have to go to the library because they can't afford Internet connections. I read an article just this morning about how the number of "library users" has increased in my town by 450% in the last 24 months.

Windows still offers 32 bit and 64 bit versions of their OS, but they have the WOW64 for it. Mac being strictly 64 bit, there are things like TWAIN plugins for scanners that need the 32 bit adaptability. Windows and Mac both use "backward compatibility" in their OS's. XI can run on Vista, but it ISN'T supported, mostly because of how shortly Vista was out before being replaced by 7.Īdobe HAS made the move to 64 bit with a lot of their paid software (Premiere Pro, Encore, Photoshop are three examples) but as I said, because the "freebies" are used by a lot of people with older, 32 bit systems, they haven't placed a high priority on "migrating" reader or FlashPlayer to 64 bit native or compatible. XI is supported in XP SP3, 7 and 8, but NOT in Vista (only 10.1.7). But hey, it's the customers' guilty decision to buy futuristic computers preinstalled with 64-bit Windows, instead of a good old, duly-tested, vanilla 32-bit Windows 2000. I already got a reply on this forum from some Adobe tech about the latter issue, which I can sum up like this: "yep, it's broken, we won't implement a fix or prevent our app from breaking the OS, so fix it manually all by yourself after each future install/update". Never got any follow-up by using their bug report form (and never saw the tail of a related bugfix, either). thumbnailing extension, and indexation iFilter) are actually functional, or not (hint: actually, they do not work, and even go as far as breaking OS functionality, as is the case with Adobe's forcefully installed iFilter).

would have checked if what they *do* install on these still-to-be-released OSes (i.e. Not sure if Acrobat XI Pro can run under Windows XP or 2000 (not to mention MS-DOS 5.0), but with Vista, 7 and 8 OSes featuring 64-bit support for, well, a few weeks now, I'd expect someone at Adobe Inc.

As this is a common thread all over the Net. If we are doing something wrong & have misconfigured something please let me know. We loved this feature & now miss it when we upgrade our systems to 64 bit. It is much more productive to scan the files in multiple directories & then open 2-3 relevant ones by using the Windows Explorer. So I'm reluctant to install a 3rd party solution which perports to solve both the Prieview & Thumbnail issues. So I don't think a reinstall will be the issue.
